Bamboo Temple Chinese Benevolent Association

Begun in 1963, RDH continues to serve as Standing Chairman

Sifu Wong Bak Lim (left), Master Lam’s first inner gate disciple, founded the Bamboo Temple Chinese Benevolent Association, Circa 1963, in New York City.  The announcement was featured in the local Chinatown newspapers and Chinese media.  Today, we continue to carry forward this legacy more than half a century later.  RDH (red), Jesse Eng Sibok, and late Harry Sun Sibok (right) circa 1993, carrying onward.

Hong Kong Cheng Wan Chu Gar Mantis Association

RDH has served as Standing Chairman since 2002

The late Cheng Wan Sifu was one of kind. He was old fashioned and yet high tech. He was Hakka with International friends. He aged but remained young at heart. Very few remain alive today of his Chu Gar Mantis generation.

His annual Celebrations always included dozens of demonstrations and awards from various styles including Chu Gar, Bok Mei White Eyebrow, Dragon Shadow, Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar, Wing Chun, North Shaolin, Qigong and many more. Almost every style in Hong Kong was always represented!

For 35 years or more, every year, hundreds of folks, from the world over, gathered on or near his birthday in the Summer to celebrate the spirit of Chinese Kungfu in Hong Kong!

RDH Lineage Kwongsai and Chu Gar Mantis

RDH:  I started training in the 1960s.  If you are reading this, I likely was training Mantis, before you were born.  I started training USA Kwongsai Mantis with Louie Jack Man, in the 1970s.  I made ceremony to Mark Gin Foon, in 1980.  I first arrived at Hong Kong’s Chu Gar Door in 1983.  I made Chu Gar ceremony to Gene Chen, in San Fran, circa 1988 and Cheng Wan Sifu, Hong Kong, 2002.   In 2013, with Chen Jianming, I opened the first public Chu Gar School in Lao Sui’s hometown. I’ve been coming to Pingshan since 1992, and haven’t left Pingshan in the last 15 years.  This year’s Hakka Mantis New Year celebration, in Pingshan Town, was attended by more than a thousand people.  I continue my association with the Hong Kong Chu Gar clans, Lao Sui’s hometown family and Chu Gar clans, and the Kwongsai Mantis Clans in Hong Kong, China, and the USA. Your visit is welcome.  Join the Hakka Mantis Boxing International Community and start training today.
